KCOM Default Router Passwords

This page lists 3 confirmed default credentials for KCOM equipment, covering 3 models. The pairing you are most likely to need is admin with the password printed on that unit’s own label.

Entries are reachable over http. All of these entries use a protocol that sends the password in clear text, so use them on a trusted network and change the password once you are in.

On most KCOM equipment the admin password is printed on the device itself, on its label or settings card. If it has been changed and you cannot recall it, a reset returns it to the printed one. Know a KCOM model we are missing? Add it.

About KCOM

KCOM supplies Lightstream LightHub routers from Zyxel and Technicolor in Hull and East Yorkshire. The KCOM records here run across the LightHub line.

Reaching the login page

The admin page on most KCOM units answers at http://192.168.1.1. If that address does not load, the router is whatever your computer lists as its default gateway — ipconfig on Windows or ipconfig getoption en0 router on a Mac will tell you.

The username is admin. On the LightHub 2.0 and the Zyxel XMG3927 the password is on the card that came with the router. On older Technicolor LightHubs KCOM says it may be admin, the access key underneath, or one set at first login.

What the KCOM defaults look like

Every entry uses the username admin. On 2 entries the password is unique to each unit and printed on its label. All of them are reached over a protocol that puts the password on the wire in clear text, so work from a machine on the same wired network rather than across the internet, and change the password once you are in.

Where KCOM prints the admin password

Login Password is printed on the card supplied with the LightHub, as the Login Password. It is not the Wi-Fi password, even when both are on the same label.Drawn from KCOM’s own description. The real label looks different and carries other details.

If the KCOM password has already been changed

LightHub Zyxel XMG3927: push a pin into the Reset hole on the back for 10 seconds, then wait a few minutes.

The catch with an ISP-supplied unit is that a reset also clears the broadband credentials, and on some lines the router will not reconnect until those are re-entered. Find them before you press anything, or be ready to ring the provider.
