About Huawei
Huawei supplies carrier equipment and the ONTs and routers that many ISPs hand out with fibre connections. The Huawei records here run across the MT- line.
Reaching the login page
The admin page on most Huawei units answers at http://192.168.100.1. If that address does not load, the router is whatever your computer lists as its default gateway — ipconfig on Windows or ipconfig getoption en0 router on a Mac will tell you.
The steps, and what to try when the page will not load, are in our 192.168.100.1 login guide. Fibre ONTs answer on 192.168.100.1 and home routers on 192.168.3.1 or 192.168.1.1. Units supplied by an ISP usually have a per-device password printed on the label that overrides anything listed here.
What the Huawei defaults look like
admin is the username on 2 of the 4 entries. One model shipped with no password at all. Where one is set, admin comes up most often, on 2 entries.
If the Huawei password has already been changed
There is a recessed reset button on the back or underneath that needs a straightened paperclip. Hold it in for thirty seconds with the unit powered on. Let go when the lights change pattern, and give it a couple of minutes to come back up.
The catch with an ISP-supplied unit is that a reset also clears the broadband credentials, and on some lines the router will not reconnect until those are re-entered. Find them before you press anything, or be ready to ring the provider.
