Bell Default Router Passwords

This page lists 2 confirmed default credentials for Bell equipment, covering 2 models.

Entries are reachable over http. All of these entries use a protocol that sends the password in clear text, so use them on a trusted network and change the password once you are in.

On most Bell equipment the admin password is printed on the device itself, on its label or settings card. If it has been changed and you cannot recall it, a reset returns it to the printed one. Know a Bell model we are missing? Add it.

About Bell

Bell supplies its own Home Hub and Giga Hub modems with Bell Internet.

Reaching the login page

The admin page on most Bell units answers at http://192.168.2.1, or at bell.ca/mymodem if the router is handling your DNS. If that address does not load, the router is whatever your computer lists as its default gateway — ipconfig on Windows or ipconfig getoption en0 router on a Mac will tell you.

Bell hubs ask only for an administrator password. On the Home Hub 3000 the default is the serial number printed on the sticker on the back; on the Home Hub 4000 and Giga Hub, Bell also shows it on the modem’s front screen under Modem Management.

What the Bell defaults look like

None of them ask for a username; the field is left empty. On 2 entries the password is unique to each unit and printed on its label. All of them are reached over a protocol that puts the password on the wire in clear text, so work from a machine on the same wired network rather than across the internet, and change the password once you are in.

Where Bell prints the admin password

Serial number (S/N) is printed on the sticker on the back of the modem, as the serial number. It is not the Wi-Fi password, even when both are on the same label.Drawn from Bell’s own description. The real label looks different and carries other details.

The password recovery button

Bell hubs can email or text you their passwords when you press the password recovery button, but only if that feature was set up beforehand. If it was not, use the serial number on the back sticker, or the Modem Management screen on a Home Hub 4000 or Giga Hub.

If the Bell password has already been changed

Home Hub 3000: hold the Reset button on the side for at least 30 seconds, until the light flashes red five times. Home Hub 4000 and Giga Hub: on the front, press the down arrow, scroll to Reset to factory default, then Yes, and press OK.

The catch with an ISP-supplied unit is that a reset also clears the broadband credentials, and on some lines the router will not reconnect until those are re-entered. Find them before you press anything, or be ready to ring the provider.
