Distributel Default Modem Passwords

This page lists 3 confirmed default credentials for Distributel equipment, covering 3 models. The pairing you are most likely to need is admin with admin.

Entries are reachable over http. All of these entries use a protocol that sends the password in clear text, so use them on a trusted network and change the password once you are in.

These are the logins Distributel itself publishes. If the password has been changed and you cannot recall it, a reset returns the device to the default above. Know a Distributel model we are missing? Add it.

About Distributel

Distributel supplies SmartRG modems for DSL and cable, and TP-Link Deco systems on some plans. The Distributel records here run across the SmartRG line.

Reaching the login page

The admin page on most Distributel units answers at http://192.168.1.1. If that address does not load, the router is whatever your computer lists as its default gateway — ipconfig on Windows or ipconfig getoption en0 router on a Mac will tell you.

Add /admin to the address and choose Managed Gateway (advanced). The DSL SR516ac uses a fixed password; the cable SR808 builds its password from the MAC and serial number on its base.

What the Distributel defaults look like

Every entry uses the username admin. All of them are reached over a protocol that puts the password on the wire in clear text, so work from a machine on the same wired network rather than across the internet, and change the password once you are in.

Where Distributel prints the admin password

MAC and S/N is printed on the bottom of the SR808, as the last 4 digits of the MAC followed by the last 4 of the S/N. It is not the Wi-Fi password, even when both are on the same label.Drawn from Distributel’s own description. The real label looks different and carries other details.

If the Distributel password has already been changed

There is a recessed reset button on the back or underneath that needs a straightened paperclip. Hold it in for thirty seconds with the unit powered on. Let go when the lights change pattern, and give it a couple of minutes to come back up.

The catch with an ISP-supplied unit is that a reset also clears the broadband credentials, and on some lines the router will not reconnect until those are re-entered. Find them before you press anything, or be ready to ring the provider.
