iiNet Default Modem Passwords

This page lists 12 confirmed default credentials for iiNet equipment, covering 12 models. The pairing you are most likely to need is admin with the password printed on that unit’s own label.

Entries are reachable over http. All of these entries use a protocol that sends the password in clear text, so use them on a trusted network and change the password once you are in.

On most iiNet equipment the admin password is printed on the device itself, on its label or settings card. If it has been changed and you cannot recall it, a reset returns it to the printed one. Know a iiNet model we are missing? Add it.

About iiNet

iiNet supplies the BoB and Smart Modem gateways, and now the same Wi-Fi Max, NetComm and Nokia modems as TPG. The iiNet records here run across the VX- line.

Reaching the login page

The admin page on most iiNet units answers at http://192.168.1.1. If that address does not load, the router is whatever your computer lists as its default gateway — ipconfig on Windows or ipconfig getoption en0 router on a Mac will tell you.

The BoB Lite and BoB2 answer on 10.1.1.1 and the cable gateways on 192.168.0.1; the rest use 192.168.1.1. Older iiNet modems use the password admin with no username, and newer ones print it on the barcode sticker.

What the iiNet defaults look like

admin is the username on 5 of the 12 entries. 6 of them ask for no username at all. On 6 entries the password is unique to each unit and printed on its label.

All of them are reached over a protocol that puts the password on the wire in clear text, so work from a machine on the same wired network rather than across the internet, and change the password once you are in.

Where iiNet prints the admin password

Login Password is printed on the barcode sticker of the Wi-Fi Max and VX220-G2V. It is not the Wi-Fi password, even when both are on the same label.Drawn from iiNet’s own description. The real label looks different and carries other details.

iiNet cable gateways

On HFC (cable) connections iiNet supplies the Cable Gateway Pro. The CG3000 signs in at http://192.168.0.1 with the username admin, which cannot be changed, and its own password from the barcode sticker. The older CG2200 uses admin and password.

If the iiNet password has already been changed

BoB Lite and BoB2: hold the reset button beside the power socket for 8 seconds.

The catch with an ISP-supplied unit is that a reset also clears the broadband credentials, and on some lines the router will not reconnect until those are re-entered. Find them before you press anything, or be ready to ring the provider.
