Optus Default Modem Passwords

This page lists 4 confirmed default credentials for Optus equipment, covering 4 models. On most of this equipment both the username and the password are printed on that unit’s own label.

Entries are reachable over http. All of these entries use a protocol that sends the password in clear text, so use them on a trusted network and change the password once you are in.

On most Optus equipment the admin password is printed on the device itself, on its label or settings card. If it has been changed and you cannot recall it, a reset returns it to the printed one. Know a Optus model we are missing? Add it.

About Optus

Optus supplies the Ultra WiFi Modem, and on older plans Sagemcom F@ST modems. The Optus records here run across the Sagemcom and Ultra lines.

Reaching the login page

The admin page on most Optus units answers at http://192.168.0.1. If that address does not load, the router is whatever your computer lists as its default gateway — ipconfig on Windows or ipconfig getoption en0 router on a Mac will tell you.

The Ultra WiFi Modem asks only for a password. It is printed on the base sticker under MODEM SETTINGS, below the WiFi SETTINGS section, and it is not the Wi-Fi password.

What the Optus defaults look like

On 1 of the 4 entries the username is printed on that unit’s own label. 3 of them ask for no username at all. On 4 entries the password is unique to each unit and printed on its label.

All of them are reached over a protocol that puts the password on the wire in clear text, so work from a machine on the same wired network rather than across the internet, and change the password once you are in.

Where Optus prints the admin password

Modem Password is printed on the base sticker, in the MODEM SETTINGS section. It is not the Wi-Fi password, even when both are on the same label.Drawn from Optus’s own description. The real label looks different and carries other details.

Two passwords on one sticker

The Optus sticker has two sections. WiFi SETTINGS holds the network name and the password that joins the Wi-Fi. MODEM SETTINGS holds the address, 192.168.0.1, and the password that opens the modem’s settings. Use the second one to log in.

If the Optus password has already been changed

There is a recessed reset button on the back or underneath that needs a straightened paperclip. Hold it in for thirty seconds with the unit powered on. Let go when the lights change pattern, and give it a couple of minutes to come back up.

The catch with an ISP-supplied unit is that a reset also clears the broadband credentials, and on some lines the router will not reconnect until those are re-entered. Find them before you press anything, or be ready to ring the provider.
