TPG Default Modem Passwords

This page lists 10 confirmed default credentials for TPG equipment, covering 10 models. The pairing you are most likely to need is admin with the password printed on that unit’s own label.

Entries are reachable over http. All of these entries use a protocol that sends the password in clear text, so use them on a trusted network and change the password once you are in.

On most TPG equipment the admin password is printed on the device itself, on its label or settings card. If it has been changed and you cannot recall it, a reset returns it to the printed one. Know a TPG model we are missing? Add it.

About TPG

TPG supplies the Wi-Fi Max modem today, and has supplied TP-Link, NetComm, Nokia and Sagemcom modems. The TPG records here run across the VX- and Nokia lines.

Reaching the login page

The admin page on most TPG units answers at http://192.168.1.1. If that address does not load, the router is whatever your computer lists as its default gateway — ipconfig on Windows or ipconfig getoption en0 router on a Mac will tell you.

Most current TPG modems print the login password on the barcode sticker. The VX420-G2H and VX420-G2V instead use the password admin with no username, and the TP-Link VR1600v uses admin for both.

What the TPG defaults look like

admin is the username on 4 of the 10 entries. 4 of them ask for no username at all. On 6 entries the password is unique to each unit and printed on its label.

All of them are reached over a protocol that puts the password on the wire in clear text, so work from a machine on the same wired network rather than across the internet, and change the password once you are in.

Where TPG prints the admin password

Login Password is printed on the barcode sticker, as the Login Password. It is not the Wi-Fi password, even when both are on the same label.Drawn from TPG’s own description. The real label looks different and carries other details.

Nokia FastMile R1: a different address

The Nokia FastMile R1 5G is the one TPG modem on https://192.168.1.254. Its username is userAdmin and the password is on the barcode sticker. The FastMile 3.2 uses the usual 192.168.1.1 with the username admin.

The Wi-Fi Max password also opens the app

On the Wi-Fi Max and Wi-Fi Max 5G the Login Password on the sticker also signs you in to the My Internet Connect app, which is where TPG puts most of the settings.

If the TPG password has already been changed

Hold the reset button for 10 seconds with a paperclip while the modem is on. On the VX420-G2V it is on the back between the WAN and power ports; on the VX220-G2V it is on the left side.

The catch with an ISP-supplied unit is that a reset also clears the broadband credentials, and on some lines the router will not reconnect until those are re-entered. Find them before you press anything, or be ready to ring the provider.
