Leaptel Default Modem Passwords

This page lists 2 confirmed default credentials for Leaptel equipment, covering 2 models. The pairing you are most likely to need is admin with admin.

Entries are reachable over http. All of these entries use a protocol that sends the password in clear text, so use them on a trusted network and change the password once you are in.

These are the logins Leaptel itself publishes. If the password has been changed and you cannot recall it, a reset returns the device to the default above. Know a Leaptel model we are missing? Add it.

About Leaptel

Leaptel supplies NetComm and D-Link modems with its NBN plans.

Reaching the login page

The admin page on most Leaptel units answers at http://192.168.1.1. If that address does not load, the router is whatever your computer lists as its default gateway — ipconfig on Windows or ipconfig getoption en0 router on a Mac will tell you.

The D-Link DVA-2800 asks only for a password, admin. The NetComm NF18MESH uses the username admin and the password printed on its back label.

What the Leaptel defaults look like

Usernames vary; admin is the one that appears most, on a single entry. One entry asks for no username at all. All of them are reached over a protocol that puts the password on the wire in clear text, so work from a machine on the same wired network rather than across the internet, and change the password once you are in.

If the Leaptel password has already been changed

There is a recessed reset button on the back or underneath that needs a straightened paperclip. Hold it in for thirty seconds with the unit powered on. Let go when the lights change pattern, and give it a couple of minutes to come back up.

The catch with an ISP-supplied unit is that a reset also clears the broadband credentials, and on some lines the router will not reconnect until those are re-entered. Find them before you press anything, or be ready to ring the provider.
