About Spark
Spark is New Zealand’s largest broadband provider and supplies its own Smart Modem.
Reaching the login page
The admin page on most Spark units answers at http://192.168.1.254. If that address does not load, the router is whatever your computer lists as its default gateway — ipconfig on Windows or ipconfig getoption en0 router on a Mac will tell you.
Spark Smart Modems sign in with admin and admin, and ask you to choose a new password the first time. The Wi-Fi details on the bottom of the modem are a different password.
What the Spark defaults look like
Every entry uses the username admin. Where one is set, admin comes up most often, on 2 entries. All of them are reached over a protocol that puts the password on the wire in clear text, so work from a machine on the same wired network rather than across the internet, and change the password once you are in.

If the Spark password has already been changed
Push a pin into the hole labelled Reset for 10 to 15 seconds, or use Administration, Restore Factory Defaults in the settings.
The catch with an ISP-supplied unit is that a reset also clears the broadband credentials, and on some lines the router will not reconnect until those are re-entered. Find them before you press anything, or be ready to ring the provider.
