On most Frontier equipment the admin password is printed on the device itself, on its label or settings card. If it has been changed and you cannot recall it, a reset returns it to the printed one. Know a Frontier model we are missing? Add it.

About Frontier

Frontier supplies routers from several makers with its internet service, and eero systems with Frontier Fiber.

Reaching the login page

The admin page on most Frontier units answers at http://192.168.1.1. If that address does not load, the router is whatever your computer lists as its default gateway — ipconfig on Windows or ipconfig getoption en0 router on a Mac will tell you.

On the older gateways the username is admin and the password is on the label on the bottom or side. The address depends on the make. eero systems supplied with Frontier Fiber are set up and managed in the eero app.

Where Frontier prints the admin password

Admin password is printed on the label on the bottom or side of the router. It is not the Wi-Fi password, even when both are on the same label.Drawn from Frontier’s own description. The real label looks different and carries other details.

If the Frontier password has already been changed

There is a recessed reset button on the back or underneath that needs a straightened paperclip. Hold it in for thirty seconds with the unit powered on. Let go when the lights change pattern, and give it a couple of minutes to come back up.

The catch with an ISP-supplied unit is that a reset also clears the broadband credentials, and on some lines the router will not reconnect until those are re-entered. Find them before you press anything, or be ready to ring the provider.
