Most US internet providers hand you a gateway with its own admin login, and on almost all of them the password is not a shared default you can look up. It is printed on that unit’s label, or you create it in the provider’s app. This page tells you which, provider by provider, and where to type it.
- Look first
- The label on the gateway. Most providers print the admin password there, next to the Wi-Fi details.
- Two passwords
- The admin password opens the settings. The Wi-Fi password joins the network. They are rarely the same.
- Your provider
- Choose it below. Its page has the address to type and the login for each gateway.
- App-only gateways
- Some newer gateways are set up in the provider’s app instead of a browser. The provider pages say which.
Choose your provider
Each provider has its own page with the login for every model we have confirmed, where the password is printed, and how to reset it.

The password on the label does not work
Then someone has changed it since the gateway was installed. The fix is the reset button, which returns the admin password to the one on the label. Hold it in with a paperclip while the gateway is powered on; the time varies, so check the provider’s page above. A reset also puts back the Wi-Fi name and password from the label and removes anything you set up, such as port forwards.
If you are trying to get onto the Wi-Fi rather than into the settings, you need the other password. Finding your Wi-Fi password covers reading it from the label, from a device that is already connected, or from the router.
Cox and providers not listed yet
Cox Panoramic Wifi gateways cannot be reached from a browser any more. Cox’s own community moderators say the gateway’s address has been disabled for quite some time and the settings are only in the Cox app, which signs in with your Cox account.
Optimum, T-Mobile Home Internet, Google Fiber and Starlink are missing on purpose: their support pages could not be checked, and we do not publish a login we cannot confirm. Several of them also manage their equipment through an app.
