ZTE Default Router Passwords

This page lists 2 confirmed default credentials for ZTE equipment, covering 2 models. The pairing you are most likely to need is user with user.

Entries are reachable over http and pppoa/pppoe. 1 of these entries use a protocol that sends the password in clear text, so use them on a trusted network and change the password once you are in.

These are factory default credentials, not the password printed on the sticker under your router. If yours has been changed and you cannot recall it, a 30-second reset button hold returns the device to the defaults above. Know a ZTE model we are missing? Add it.

About ZTE

ZTE supplies carrier equipment and the ONTs and routers many ISPs distribute.

Reaching the login page

The admin page on most ZTE units answers at http://192.168.1.1. If that address does not load, the router is whatever your computer lists as its default gateway — ipconfig on Windows or ipconfig getoption en0 router on a Mac will tell you.

What the ZTE defaults look like

Usernames vary; user is the one that appears most, on a single entry. One of them is reached over a protocol that puts the password on the wire in clear text, so work from a machine on the same wired network rather than across the internet, and change the password once you are in.

If the ZTE password has already been changed

There is a recessed reset button on the back or underneath that needs a straightened paperclip. Hold it in for thirty seconds with the unit powered on. Let go when the lights change pattern, and give it a couple of minutes to come back up.

The catch with an ISP-supplied unit is that a reset also clears the broadband credentials, and on some lines the router will not reconnect until those are re-entered. Find them before you press anything, or be ready to ring the provider.
