Mitel Default Phone Passwords

This page lists 5 confirmed default credentials for Mitel equipment, covering 5 models. The pairing you are most likely to need is system with password.

Entries are reachable over http, console and multi. 3 of these entries use a protocol that sends the password in clear text, so use them on a trusted network and change the password once you are in.

These are factory default credentials, not the password printed on the sticker under your router. If yours has been changed and you cannot recall it, a 30-second reset button hold returns the device to the defaults above. Know a Mitel model we are missing? Add it.

About Mitel

Mitel builds business telephone systems and took on the Nortel enterprise line in 2010. The Mitel records here run across the Aastra line.

Reaching the login page

Point a browser at whatever your computer reports as its default gateway. On Windows that is the Default Gateway line from ipconfig; on macOS, Network settings shows it under the active connection.

What the Mitel defaults look like

Usernames vary; system is the one that appears most, on a single entry. 2 of them ask for no username at all. 2 of them shipped with no password at all.

3 of them are reached over a protocol that puts the password on the wire in clear text, so work from a machine on the same wired network rather than across the internet, and change the password once you are in.

If the Mitel password has already been changed

Handsets and ATAs are usually reset from the keypad rather than a button, through a service menu reached with a code dialled from the phone itself. Where the device is supplied by a VoIP provider, that menu is often locked and the provider has to reset it from their side.

A reset drops the SIP registration along with everything else, so have the server address, the SIP username and the registration password before you start, or the phone will come back up unable to call.
