Livingston Default Router Passwords

This page lists 4 confirmed default credentials for Livingston equipment, covering 4 models. The pairing you are most likely to need is !root with no password at all.

Entries are reachable over telnet. All of these entries use a protocol that sends the password in clear text, so use them on a trusted network and change the password once you are in.

These are factory default credentials, not the password printed on the sticker under your router. If yours has been changed and you cannot recall it, a 30-second reset button hold returns the device to the defaults above. Know a Livingston model we are missing? Add it.

About Livingston

4 distinct Livingston models are covered.

Reaching the login page

Point a browser at whatever your computer reports as its default gateway. On Windows that is the Default Gateway line from ipconfig; on macOS, Network settings shows it under the active connection. None of the Livingston entries here are for a web interface — they are reached over telnet, which means a terminal or a serial console rather than a browser.

What the Livingston defaults look like

!root is the username on 3 of the 4 entries. None of this hardware shipped with a password set. All of them are reached over a protocol that puts the password on the wire in clear text, so work from a machine on the same wired network rather than across the internet, and change the password once you are in.

If the Livingston password has already been changed

This is not hardware you reset with a paperclip. Recovery runs through the console port: interrupt the boot sequence, tell the bootloader to ignore the saved configuration, start up, read or clear the password, then save and reboot. The exact key sequence differs by platform and is in the vendor documentation under password recovery.

You need physical access and a serial cable for this, which is deliberate. Anything reachable only over the network cannot be recovered this way.
