Intel Default Router Passwords

This page lists 10 confirmed default credentials for Intel equipment, covering 8 models. The pairing you are most likely to need is admin with hello.

Entries are reachable over multi, telnet and http. 4 of these entries use a protocol that sends the password in clear text, so use them on a trusted network and change the password once you are in.

These are factory default credentials, not the password printed on the sticker under your router. If yours has been changed and you cannot recall it, a 30-second reset button hold returns the device to the defaults above. Know a Intel model we are missing? Add it.

About Intel

Intel sold networking hardware including the Express switch line and the Shiva remote-access products it acquired in 1999. The Intel records here run across the Express line.

Reaching the login page

Point a browser at whatever your computer reports as its default gateway. On Windows that is the Default Gateway line from ipconfig; on macOS, Network settings shows it under the active connection.

What the Intel defaults look like

admin is the username on 3 of the 10 entries. One entry asks for no username at all. 4 of them shipped with no password at all.

Where one is set, hello comes up most often, on 2 entries. There are 5 different passwords across the Intel set, so check your exact model rather than assuming. 4 of them are reached over a protocol that puts the password on the wire in clear text, so work from a machine on the same wired network rather than across the internet, and change the password once you are in.

If the Intel password has already been changed

There is a recessed reset button on the back or underneath that needs a straightened paperclip. Hold it in for thirty seconds with the unit powered on. Let go when the lights change pattern, and give it a couple of minutes to come back up.

A reset clears more than the password. The Wi-Fi name and key go back to what is printed on the label, port forwards and firewall rules are discarded, and any static addressing is lost. Photograph the settings pages first — it takes two minutes and saves an evening.
