GeoVision Default DVR Passwords

This page lists 12 confirmed default credentials for GeoVision equipment, covering 12 models. The pairing you are most likely to need is admin with admin.

These are factory default credentials, not the password printed on the sticker under your router. If yours has been changed and you cannot recall it, a 30-second reset button hold returns the device to the defaults above. Know a GeoVision model we are missing? Add it.

About GeoVision

GeoVision supplies IP cameras and video management software for commercial sites.

Reaching the login page

Point a browser at whatever your computer reports as its default gateway. On Windows that is the Default Gateway line from ipconfig; on macOS, Network settings shows it under the active connection.

What the GeoVision defaults look like

admin is the username on 9 of the 12 entries. Where one is set, admin comes up most often, on 8 entries. 7 of them are reached over a protocol that puts the password on the wire in clear text, so work from a machine on the same wired network rather than across the internet, and change the password once you are in.

If the GeoVision password has already been changed

Cameras and recorders rarely have an accessible reset button. On a camera it is usually a small switch on the pigtail or under the dome that has to be held while power is applied. On a recorder the reset is normally a jumper or a button on the mainboard, which means opening the case. Several manufacturers will also generate a one-time unlock code from the device serial number and the current date if you contact their support with proof of ownership.

A reset on a recorder wipes the camera list, the recording schedule and the network settings, though it leaves the footage on the disks alone. Write down the IP addresses of the cameras first, because re-adding them one at a time is the slow part.
