eir Default Modem Passwords

This page lists 3 confirmed default credentials for eir equipment, covering 3 models. The pairing you are most likely to need is admin with the password printed on that unit’s own label.

Entries are reachable over http. All of these entries use a protocol that sends the password in clear text, so use them on a trusted network and change the password once you are in.

On most eir equipment the admin password is printed on the device itself, on its label or settings card. If it has been changed and you cannot recall it, a reset returns it to the printed one. Know a eir model we are missing? Add it.

About eir

eir is Ireland’s largest broadband provider, supplying Zyxel and Sagemcom modems.

Reaching the login page

The admin page on most eir units answers at http://192.168.1.254. If that address does not load, the router is whatever your computer lists as its default gateway — ipconfig on Windows or ipconfig getoption en0 router on a Mac will tell you.

On the eir F1000 and D1000 the username is admin and the password is the wireless key printed on the back. The eir fibre box asks only for a password, the one on its label. On eir modems the admin password and the Wi-Fi password start out the same.

What the eir defaults look like

admin is the username on 2 of the 3 entries. One entry asks for no username at all. On 3 entries the password is unique to each unit and printed on its label.

All of them are reached over a protocol that puts the password on the wire in clear text, so work from a machine on the same wired network rather than across the internet, and change the password once you are in.

Where eir prints the admin password

Wireless key is printed on the back of the modem, as the wireless key. On eir modems it is also the default Wi-Fi password.Drawn from eir’s own description. The real label looks different and carries other details.

Locked out after three tries

The D1000 locks the login page for 10 minutes after three wrong passwords, according to eir’s manual. Wait it out rather than resetting, then use the wireless key from the label.

If the eir password has already been changed

Hold the RESET button for 10 seconds, until the power light blinks. This also restores the wireless key on the label.

The catch with an ISP-supplied unit is that a reset also clears the broadband credentials, and on some lines the router will not reconnect until those are re-entered. Find them before you press anything, or be ready to ring the provider.
