Actiontec Default Router Passwords

This page lists 4 confirmed default credentials for Actiontec equipment, covering 4 models. The pairing you are most likely to need is admin with password.

Entries are reachable over http. All of these entries use a protocol that sends the password in clear text, so use them on a trusted network and change the password once you are in.

These are the logins Actiontec itself publishes. If the password has been changed and you cannot recall it, a reset returns the device to the default above. Know a Actiontec model we are missing? Add it.

About Actiontec

Actiontec supplies DSL and fibre gateways to North American carriers, notably Verizon FiOS.

Reaching the login page

The admin page on most Actiontec units answers at http://192.168.0.1. If that address does not load, the router is whatever your computer lists as its default gateway — ipconfig on Windows or ipconfig getoption en0 router on a Mac will tell you.

What the Actiontec defaults look like

admin is the username on 3 of the 4 entries. One entry asks for no username at all. 2 of them shipped with no password at all.

Where one is set, password comes up most often, on 2 entries. All of them are reached over a protocol that puts the password on the wire in clear text, so work from a machine on the same wired network rather than across the internet, and change the password once you are in.

If the Actiontec password has already been changed

There is a recessed reset button on the back or underneath that needs a straightened paperclip. Hold it in for thirty seconds with the unit powered on. Let go when the lights change pattern, and give it a couple of minutes to come back up.

The catch with an ISP-supplied unit is that a reset also clears the broadband credentials, and on some lines the router will not reconnect until those are re-entered. Find them before you press anything, or be ready to ring the provider.
